From Mama Sue

From Mama Sue:

**************
I forgot to tell you that I missed a meeting Thursday night, because I just plain forgot it. When one member called me, I told her I wasn't even sure what month it was, much less what day of the week, month, etc. It wasn't too important, thankfully. I miss Jessie's sweet little hands helping me. It didn't matter what I was doing, she would drop whatever she was doing and say, "I hep you." When she put clothes into the dryer, each piece I handed to her, she would say, "Thank you."
She didn't get into the cabinets like I expected she would. She did see where I got the Jello packages from. Then she would go to that cabinet and ask for Jello. She didn't bother the things under the microwave after I told her they weren't toys. She did ask me "What's that?" about each item----several times. Maybe she thought I would break down and let her have them to play with, but I didn't.
I think one of the cutest things she said was when I gave her a small flashlight to play with when I was changing her. She wanted me to turn the dark on.
She was good to ask for a paper towel when she would spill a bit of milk on the floor. I sent her to ask Daddy Jim to get her a paper towel because she made a mess. She did. Then Daddy Jim came and asked me what she was trying to tell him. He said he got the towel part but not the rest of it. She and I got to where we could communicate pretty well.

I want to thank you and Holly for trusting us with your precious Jessie, especially since she was so sick. I just felt so helpless when she felt so bad, just the way I felt when you and Diana were sick. I know it was hard for you to leave her down here so long. We had some very nice times with her in between fevers! She was just as loving with us as she is with you.
Daddy Jim was touched by her looking so much like Diana, especially her hair. It warmed my heart to see him playing with her. Thank you again.

Bye now and tell Jessie and Jamie we love them.
Love,
Mama Sue

Yes, I opened that picture of Jamie in here shopping basket with
Jessie in my lap. So, she has seen it, and you know she doesn't
forget!!! You gave her the idea!
Yeah, I should be recovered by Thanksgiving! Oh, we really are doing
fine. I just rest when I get a chance. She just plays around
wherever I am. She helps me with whatever I do. She carries one end
of the laundry basket and puts clothes in the dryer and takes them out
when they are dry. I love watching her help. She is anxious to
please most of the time. Of course, she has her "no" times. But I
get on to her when she tells me no when I tell her to do something.

Enjoying a "campfire" out on the back driveway. Is it still a campfire if you're not camping? We spent most of the afternoon out there.

In one she is saying, Hi, Daddy.

In one or two she is waving to you.

Jessie is doing fine. I changed her
dirty diaper a while ago. Then Granny put her clothes on her. I thought
Granny would like that. She ate egg for breakfast. Then later came

Here's a video of our newest!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Jamie Lyn Crockett was born at 1215pm on 9/30/09, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, 18 inches long. In this picture, she is less than an hour old, with Daddy's protective hand on her.

dreams

Mama Sue and I dressed Jessie this morning. I asked Jessie if she had
any dreams last night, and she replied No.

She usually dreams about Brady, and I asked. She again said No!

I asked if Brady was still her boyfriend. She said No!

I asked why, and she said, "He pick his nose!"

Our little angel napping

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Jessie is making me "breakfast" in her kitchen. She says it is soup. I asked what kind. It is HOT soup.

Had to be proud of my little girl on Sunday. We were watching the
Titans game, as I was lying on the couch, and Jessie was sitting in
the big recliner. I turned to her and said, "Do you like watching
football with Daddy?" She replied, "I wanna watch BASEBALL!"

I said, "That's my GIRL!" Unfortunately, Comcast doesn't deliver the
goods very well. There was no baseball on. Sunday afternoon. Late in
the season. Pennant chases. Good grief.

This may have been one of those moments when "you had to be there" to
understand. But I thought I'd tell it since Holly and I will read this
again at some point and get a laugh.

On our way home from worship Sunday night, I had stopped at Publix to
get something. It took me well longer than expected. As I drove away,
I was trying to tell Holly what had happened. Jessie started saying,
"Quidet. Quidet, Daddy! QUIDET!"

Holly told her that Daddy was talking, let him finish his story. She
said, "Quidet, Mommy! Quidet!"

On and on this went, until it got absolutely funny, because the faster
and louder I tried to get the story out, the faster and louder Jessie
would yell, "QUIDET! QUIDET! QUIDET! QUIDET! QUIDET! QUIDET! QUIDET!"

Maybe you had to be there, but Holly and I almost got choked laughing so hard.

Daddy Jim kept Jessie at home for the past couple of days. He left for
Huntingdon a couple of hours ago, with a glazed look on his face, and
about 5 pounds lighter.

Today, he detected a messy diaper--from a distance. He told her,
"Let's go change your diaper!"

She ran over to her coupe, jumped in, and said, " I can't. I'm in my car."

Jessie fah down!

Holly and I got a call today from Daycare that Jessie had fallen and hit her lip. They were worried that her teeth had gone all the way through and punctured the outer skin. I was able to leave work and go check her out. I think the table did the outside damage, and the teeth did the inside damage, so I didn't take her for any plastic surgery.

So, we went to the park and rode my bike/her trailer for 2 or 3 hours, even into downtown Franklin. Wish I'd had my wallet with me when I passed Baskin Robbins! We swung a lot. We threw rocks. We climbed up the slide and down. We ran around, and generally had a good time.

Mommy is taking care of Jessie now, so that Daddy could return to work and finish the things he couldn't get done before leaving to go get Jessie. Thank you, Mommy!

Murder

There has been a grisly scene discovered at the Crockett household. Police aren't saying much, but they suspect the two decedents likely suffered multiple stab wounds. One victim was disemboweled. A murder weapon was recovered as well. There are three suspects, as they are the only ones that live in the house, but one stands out more than the other two. Stay tuned. Details at 10.

boyfriend

The other night Jessie revealed to us that she had a boyfriend.....Jackson.

The next day, I had her in my arms while talking to the director
Lydia. I asked Jessie who her boyfriend was. She replied, "Brady!"
(Lydia's grandson!)

I said, "Well what happened to Jackson?!"

She replied, "He fell down!"

To which Lydia replied, "Women are so fickle."

Did you know that the Woman at the Well lives in Williamson County,
and I think on Arno Road? The sign at the church across from daycare
says, "The Samaritan Woman Come and Be With Us".

Sounds like they know her and are giving her a special invitation.

Oops!

Well, I guess I'll blog the bad stuff as well as the good stuff.

She has picked up "Oh Gosh!" at the daycare. She certainly isn't hearing it at home. It seems to be one of the hardest things to teach her not to say it, when you are saying it yourself. It's like trying to teach her not to bite while biting her back.

She also jumped in the pool without our permission. I was on the other side of the pool (in the water) trying to catch/net a gnarly looking varmint that was in the water (ugly bug). Holly was walking around the pool doing something. Jessie was sitting on the edge at the ladder. We have put her there before, and she obeyed us not to jump in. Well, she did it anyway.

I'm glad we were there, but it was interesting. She started paddling and moving her arms. She didn't sink. When I got to her and got her above the water, she didn't sputter at all. So, she knew to hold her breath, but she hasn't quite learned to go to her back and float. She was trying to swim towards me, I believe. We're not sure what would have happened if we weren't there (i.e., would she have tried to swim to the edge like she's being taught?). Anyway, a scary moment, yet somewhat interesting.

There were no swim/safety lessons on Friday or tomorrow (Monday). The instructor whose child drowned was mourning the 10th anniversary since it had happened. She is truly turning lemons into lemonade.

Nursery painted

I finished painting the nursery (I hope....I have moved the painting supplies back to the basement). It is an odd color to me, because it is a different color at different times of the day/different lights. To me, it can be blue, green, or even gray. Porter Paint copied Behr's Rocky Mountain Sky if that tells you anything about the color.

Van is coming to do the crown molding on Thursday. He was scheduled to do it a couple of weeks ago, but got sick. Then, I'll hang blinds and curtain rods. Probably during all this I'll be putting the crib together too.

swingset arrived

Jessie's (and Baby's) playset arrived via Silverado today. I'm gonna have to make some friends, and then have them come over and help me unload and level it. Wish me luck making friends!

Also, Jessie is just chillin' in the story (Babies R Us) in a chair we registered for. We plan to put that chair in her room, and move the rocker to the nursery.

That's rude!

I had opened the door for Jessie to start her descent down the stairs, and I grabbed my phone off the desk upstairs. She had already gone down about 3 steps, and I passed her on the left, because I wanted to be able to catch her if she stumbled.

She looked up at me and said, "That's rude!"

On a lighter note, the church sign across the street from Jessie's daycare has done it again. Its sign reads,

When Good Counsel is Overthrown.
Come and be with us.

At first it didn't strike me as interesting. But I think I'll go. Not many average Americans get to see a coup de etat'.

Hello

Hellooooooooooooo in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Can't wait to see you!!!!!

Jessie's play date with Aunt KK and Karolyne/ 6-19-09

I just loved spending the day with my favorite niece!!!!!  Karolyne and I had so much fun.  We drove around a lot, played baby dolls, Karolyne played dollhouse with Jessie,  went to swim lessons, swam when we got back to our house, and said "OW!" a lot to Kassie for looking at her.  I love you sweet girl!

Playground: Rubber mulch in place and playground finished!

Today Chad and I moved 5,004 pounds of rubber mulch from the street to our back yard. The ATV's came in very handy for this. We still had to move 139 bags (3.5 pallets) one by one off the ATV's to the play area, by hand. It looks fantastic!

I still have some dirt work to do, but if the playset were ready, I'm ready for it too!

Playground: Border finished

Today Chad and I finished the playground border. What work! We smoked a drill, so had to buy a new one. Another over-the-budget item.

Anyway, we were even able to re-sod the upper area against the driveway. Not sure if it will survive, but it looks good for now.

The mulch is sitting on 4 pallets in the driveway, so we'll move that tomorrow.
